Evie G Watts

My son is in the USCG. He is named after my uncle Bigelow Watts who died flying a jet fighter in the Korean War. I feel a connection for those of us who decide to serve our country. I feel a calling to share my practice with you. When I was an artist, a sculptor, I thought I would do it through teaching welding and plasma cutting. My studio was full of other sculptors making a lot of noise. When I reached out to a veteran who came by to talk about my idea, he explained that my studio could be extremely triggering for someone with PTSD.

Now my work is quiet. I listen. I hold the space and guide my clients to be able to release the noise.
